Our Vision & Philosphy

Oak Knoll Young Explorers (OKYE) is a place for your child to begin their journey as a lifelong learner, familiar with critical exploration and a strong, equity-minded community.

At OKYE, we strive to lay a strong foundation for children to be curious and compassionate about the world around them, to be able to make a "mess" during the process, and build confidence in who they are.

Activities are centered around STEAM and sensory play. Every day, the young explorers engage together in a variety of activities that encourage curiosity and sensory exploration..

Curriculum

We provide a vast array of age-appropriate materials and inquiry-based activities that guide play and spark curiosity.

Life Skills

Practical life activities link the home environment to the school environment and develop everyday life skills. The goals are to promote the development of a child’s concentration, coordination, and independence.

Numbers & Math

We use creative play-based methods and materials that allow for hands-on exploration of concepts, and to make it fun and interactive

Sensorial

The sensorial materials help develop a child’s hand-eye coordination, fine/large motor skills, spatial awareness, object permanence, and classification skills. The goal is to aid in the refinement of the senses through manipulation and exploration of concrete materials.

Language & Literacy

We structure the learning and development around each child and their level. We use multi-sensory components and hands-on manipulatives. We incorporate journals and activity workbooks for older children.

Science & Technology

Science is a way of thinking, technology is a way of doing. The goal is to expand the child's science learning and lead them toward discovery by encouraging their natural curiosity.

Performance Arts

Performing arts allow children to develop their own creative expression and imagination and also provides an outlet for children to interact with each other.
